"Sissy"

Hey all...hope everyone is doing well. It seems like forever since I've posted anything here, but I wanted to share it with you guys. This is a portrait of my little niece that I gave to my older sister for Christmas this year. For some reason, this picture was different for me. I always seem to struggle with portraits, and get easily frustrated as I try to get the likeness down. I stayed connected to my ipod with the easy sounds of piano tones, which I love by the way, blaring in my ears lol. I didn't try to overanalyze this one, and instead just focused on the drawing. Suddenly, with time slipping away, all the lines and tones just kind of fell in to place...and I was done :D

    Wonderful artwork!
    Really Beautiful!
This is beautiful Jeremy. I am sure your sister was really thrilled with this.
    So beautiful! Great shading.
Congratulations jeremy... I bet your sister was thrilled!
Hi Jeremy, it is great to hear from you and your drawing of your niece is amazing and what a wonderful gift to give to your sister over Christmas time....cheers and see you around.
hey Jeremy this just beautiful. Isn't it funny how all of a sudden things just fall into place without us knowing it. Congradulations.
Great work, Jeremy! The shading of the hat is amazing.
Hi Jeremy, outstanding work here. Its lively, fresh and confident. I have enjoyed your comments about the process and felt a need to explain to others the valuable point you have just made. I am constantly suggesting to you all to use music (as you have done) without words, and preferably with earphones. This helps us to have the correct brain wave frequency that enables us to draw best.

What you have described is the process of what many call 'The Artist's Zone' and that is the place we encourage everyone to get into as soon as possible during a drawing sitting. I know you are already aware of this but I am taking the opportunity to remind everyone of the importance of getting into this state of mind.

At Drawpj we are encouraged to use the 'Artist's Language' which is a process of analysing, asking questions. However, its important to know that this is only to get us into the zone. The hardest part of drawing is finding a way to get into this special zone. Using this process of analysis at the very start of the drawing session is good if you feel agitated, impatient or 'not good enough' to be able to do the drawing you really want to do. I can see that you didn't have the problem here, but many people do.

Once we get into the zone (as you have described so beautifully) we forget all about the actual asking of questions about the artwork and it all just falls into place. Well done Jeremy and thanks for giving me the opportunity to once again remind everyone of how important it is to play music (without lyrics) if you are struggling to get into that special zone that all artists need to be in so that we can do our best work.
Thanks everybody for the comments :D...my sister was very surprised when she opened it up for Christmas.

@Debbie...yes it's very strange how that happens sometimes...I wish it would happen more often lol

@Cindy...you are so right. The zone can be hard to get into sometimes, but once you get there, it's wonderful

Take care everybody...and best of luck in everything you do!
