Even in the depths of winter, the distant sun promises a return of spring. This past winter, I lost my Grandma, my closest relative - everything seemed as dreary and lifeless as winter. One day, walking along the lake, I saw a tree reaching for the cold, pale and distant sun. I imagined hope in the tree, and painted this picture afterward.
