Mentored Art Skills Development Program
One to One Mentoring with Course Founder Cindy Wider
This 42 week mentoring program (which is offered to you over a twelve month period) will provide you with personal one-to-one mentoring with Draw and Paint In Your Pyjamas Course Founder Cindy Wider.
You will be using the mediums, procedures, methods and techniques that were presented to you during ‘The Complete Draw and Paint In Your Pyjamas Certificate Course’. There are no notes provided in this course, instead, you will be given advice that relates specifically to your personal artistic needs.
Create Six Completely Original Artworks
Your goal is to create six completely original pieces of art within a twelve month period to submit for grading. A recommended goal to work towards is to create one final image every two months. You are invited to submit works-in-progress for comment along the way.
Personal Art Advice
You may discuss any art-related topics with Cindy and gain advice where necessary. Private issues that may be affecting your art experience can be discussed by email if required.
Examples of the type of advice you may choose to discuss during this program can include the following topics:
- Composition problems (including all three stages of creation ie: heart and soul, planning and application).
- It is intended that you submit all three stages of your artworks for commenting as you progress through the creation of the image.
- Any of the techniques learned during ‘The Complete Draw and Paint In Your Pyjamas Certificate Course’ including (but not limited to) outline drawing, shading, light and shade theory, perspective, painting and colour mixing skills.
- You are welcome to redo any of the exercises from this course, if you need more practice.
- Advice about your first solo art exhibition.
- Things that you might need to be given advice on include; how to label your paintings, how to create brochures, invitations, gathering client-lists, developing a portfolio, resume etc.
- Photographing your artwork for the internet or magazine publication.
- Framing your work or storing it safely as well as packaging and freighting your artworks safely.
Certificate and grading process:
To receive your certificate of completion in the ‘Mentored Art Skills Development Program’ you must submit six completely original drawings or paintings and receive a passing grade (C-level or higher.)
Your work will be graded using a Rubric based grading system with the same criteria that is outlined at the beginning of each unit (depending on the medium you are using) from ‘The Complete Draw and Paint In Your Pyjamas Certificate Course’.
You can re-visit your course notes to refresh your memory on the grading criteria and take note of any subtle changes that may have been made in the updated course notes. Your grade will be recorded on your Certificate of Completion.

Enrolment requirements
You can enter into the Mentored Art Skills Development Program if you have sufficient skills to create completely original art works or if you are studying the Art Instructor Training Course.
Course Participants studying in the Art Instructor Training Course are automatically and immediately enrolled into this program to gain experience and knowledge by observing the submissions from course participants who have completed the full six units of the beginner level art course.
It is recommended that you are either currently studying the unit six course ‘Compose Original Art’ or have completed that unit of the course, before you consider enrolling into the Mentored Art Skills Development Program.
If you have had significant art experience and your technical skills are at a high enough level to create original art you can enter the Mentored level at any time. In this case you might be looking for assistance to take your technical skills on to a professional level or to learn how to take an idea or thought into a completed original artwork.
Once you have enrolled into the Mentored Program you are invited to either ask questions relevant to your art career or submit sketches, artworks-in-progress, completed artworks or written ideas that you are considering. You are invited to work in any of the mediums previously studied in The Complete Draw and Paint In Your Pyjamas Certificate Course as well as works in either soft or hard pastels providing you are already proficient with using this medium.
