How I discovered my life purpose in my pyjamas!

It was a bright and sunny day, brighter than usual for me as I stood on a little mound of grass supporting myself on the letterbox in my front yard. As I soaked in the fresh morning air I celebrated the fact that I had finally reached my goal. Nobody told me about the power of goal setting, it was sheer willpower that made me decide two weeks earlier that I was going to muster all my strength, all my determination and learn to walk again. Previously I had spent several months in my bedroom under the covers, unable to walk further than the toilet and back.

I had been battling the debilitating effects of chronic fatigue syndrome along with the constant mind games of depression that came with it.

This day was the result of two weeks of struggle and strength of will, gradually making it to the lounge room, then to the veranda and finally achieving the biggest leap forward as I dared to venture up the hill in my yard. I guess I was afraid of what might happen to me if I didn’t make it; the fear had held me back on previous occasions. I felt so alone on this personal quest to beat the demons in my mind and physical body, as though nobody understood me, so I didn’t dare ask for help.

As I stood in my pyjamas on that little hill I felt as though I had conquered Mount Everest and said to myself, “If I can do this I can do anything.”
