About ‘Mummy’s Biggest Best Birthday Surprise Ever!

This is a heart-warming story about a little kitten named Toby who experiences the consequences of giving in to temptation, the grace of forgiveness and the joy of loving support from family and community. Toby is one of seven little kittens in the Cuddleecats family who live in Cuddleton Village. It’s a secret place deep in the English-inspired woodlands where no human has ever been.

You’ll be led on a journey with the Cuddleecat kittens as you meet many wonderful whimsical and relatable characters such as Mr Ted Maple the bear, Mrs Marguerite Featherbottom the hen (pronounced Feather-bow-tom) Miss Daisy Nibbles, Mrs Henrietta Quill and Mr Andy Snufflewood the badger.

The story begins late one night in the big fluffy-quilted bed where all the Cuddleecat kittens lay snuggle up and dreaming sweet dreams, except for Toby. He has a hungry tummy and can’t sleep. He didn’t eat his vegetables again. He lays awake listening to Mr Charles Chirrup the cricket and his choir singing a gentle night time song.

That doesn’t help his hungry tummy, so he creeps quietly downstairs for a midnight snack.

He sees mummy’s special birthday cake and has a little taste. In that moment, he completely forgets how special the cake is for Mummy, and he has some more. Soon he is full and happy so he goes back to bed to sleep.

When everyone awakes the next morning they find mummy’s cake has been eaten nearly all up. Oh no!

Today it’s mummy’s birthday and she returns home from her fashion-designer job in the big city tonight, expecting her special birthday surprise. Birthdays are very important in Cuddleton village. They’re a great time for everyone to celebrate the life of each special person who lives there. This devastating moment could cause great sadness to all, especially for mummy. Afterall, birthdays only arrive once a year. Now there will be no birthday and no special surprise cake for mummy. What will the Cuddleecats do?

Cuddleecats Book Review:

“Cindy’s new book featuring her “Cuddleecats” family of kittens is a delightfully whimsical tale, cleverly conceived, and beautifully rendered. The illustrations are colorful and draw the reader into the story with a warm, cozy feeling. I feel this will be only the first of a popular and successful series of books yet to come. Well done!”
