We are excited to announce that the results from the very first DrawPj.com Monthly online art competition for September 2012 are now in. The winners have been decided.
The competition entries were all fantastic and we appreciate and have enjoyed seeing all of the entries. Thankyou to everyone who has supported the competition this month and we encourage you all to enter again next month. You have all helped to make this competition possible.
The judges worked hard to determine the winners and are pleased with the final results. The process used to judge the artworks helped to reveal the winners. Here are the results;
First Prize Award:
Congratulations to Simone Bloomfield for ‘Rose’. The judges were particularly impressed with the high level of technical ability that Simone has demonstrated in this drawing with excellent shading skills, good contrast in tones and great attention to detail. The technical ability combined with an emotional connection to the subject made this artwork a winning entry! Well done Simone.
Overall Highly Commended Award:
Congratulations to Rosanna Cox for ‘Lonely Rose.’ The judges were impressed with the creative title of this piece, the effort that went into the creation of this drawing and the overall high level of skill that Rosanna is developing with her shading techniques. Rosanna has demonstrated that she is also developing a good understanding of form and made an emotional connection to the subject. Well done Rosanna!
Encouragement Award:
Congratulations to Melissa Koplick for ‘Old Reliable.’ The judges enjoyed the overall creative expression in this artwork and the emotional connection to the subject and can see that Melissa has enormous potential to further develop her shading and tonal comparison skills as she progresses further through the beginner level course. Well done Melissa and keep going!
Encouragement Award:
Congratulations to Deepti Mohile for ‘Sumaya’. The judges were impressed with the likeness that Deepti achieved here, along with excellent shading skills and attention to detail. Deepti has demonstrated a great understanding of all the processes studied in the beginner level course so far. This award has been given to Deepti to encourage her to keep going and developing your understanding of form and use of contrast in your work. Great work Deepti!
