Well done and congratulations to Gloria Bardell on completing her silver kettle from her unit three course. This is outstanding work here because Gloria has successfully positioned the five major areas of light and shade; the full light areas, shadow edges, half tones, reflected light and cast shadows. She has created fabulous gradations, soft edges and hard edges.
While it might seem very logical and sequential at this stage of the course, its very important for us to apply these skills in a way that we can have control over the process of shading. In the unit two course there are a number of exercises (with various subjects especially selected) that help you to practice these important building blocks for shading.
Then once these basic fundamental skills are learned and practiced they become natural and can be applied to any subject from our imagination. So keep on drawing and keep up the great work Gloria!
