Portraits by Mentored student Katya Yanovich Before (far left) After (partway in course) and current drawing level portrait of her daughter

Are you stuck with your drawing skill development? Do you feel like something is holding you back but you just can’t seem to work out what it is?
Do you really want a big breakthrough to move forwards? In this blog post, I will explain why you probably haven’t been getting the progress you want and why you possibly may not, until you learn why and then how to draw by accessing your brain in the right way for drawing.
Do you long for rapid progress like my mentored student Katya Yanovich has achieved here? In the image on the far left above you can see Katya’s skill level when she came to me to learn to draw. This is an adult woman who never knew she had the ability to draw before. Then in the image above centre is her portrait after studying my ‘Complete Online Drawing Course’ with my 1:1 mentored support at just 1/3 of the way through the course. Finally on the right is her current level after moving into the mentored 2 level with me (studying alongside her beginner course.)
What about you? Would you like to know how it’s possible for so many people to achieve this rapid success when studying with me?

My 4 Huge Secrets to Drawing Better Immediately

Let me share my 4 secrets to drawing better immediately with you right here, right now today (see the video below.) Hint, it’s all in your mind, not your hand. Your hand is just the humble servant. It will do what you tell it to do. So start talking to yourself like I do and so do many of my students. By the way, it soon becomes subconscious after you’ve trained yourself. That wil happen too, even within the first drawing session. You just have to practice remembering to do this. I call it the ‘Artist’s Language’ and all it is is a series of very specific questions you need to ask yourself while you’re drawing.
Here’s another before and after image from one of my previous students Aleksey Kosarev at just a part way through the course. The before image is on the left and the after on the right.
Before you say it….no you don’t have to be born gifted to be able to draw. We are all born creative, it’s just that somewhere, somehow we lose that along the way of growing up into adults.
No you don’t have to try to shut up your logical thinking at all. In fact, you mustn’t quieten your logical brain. You need it. You don’t just draw from the creative side of your brain, which is extremely difficult to tap into anyway if you’re doing that without the help of the reasoning logical brain.
If we simply draw from our creative side we have to wait for the ‘mood’ or ‘moment’ to come. We have to try to ‘meditate’ or ‘get into the zen mode…the daydream state etc.
This gives us such little control over when or if we will be able to draw on any certain day. We are relying on mood, emotion, a perfect environment. Most of us don’t have that luxury. We need to sit down to draw in the little blocks of time and not wait until we retire to draw. We need to be able to draw on demand and we can.
Here’s yet another before and after image from one of my current mentored students Lynn Nelson at just a part way through the course. The before image is on the left and the after on the
right. You can see more of her journey here as well; Lynn Nelson From Beginner to Award Winner in her 70’s
Yes, drawing comes from a unique synergy between both the logical thinking processes and the creative side, so you have to learn how to access these processes at the same time – back and forth between the two. You’ll be shocked to learn how this works. If you need even more proof of my theories see some more examples here Before and After Student Portraits
Maybe this explanation will help you understand why drawing is so hard for some but easier for others. This method I’m about to share with you today helped me to learn to draw as an adult and it’s also helped thousands of my students learn to draw over the past 31 years. They too have been able to get that big breakthrough they had been looking for all their lives.
Now its your turn. If you listen to this and apply the suggestions I’m giving you here, I’m sure it will help you too.
